I have been coming to Catherine for Pilates for over a year now. I play for West Ham United Football Club and was having trouble with my lower back and feeling generally stiff and achy. Pilates has made my back feel stronger and I look forward to a good stretch in my sessions. I haven't suffered any injuries since I have been doing Pilates and I always feel better when I walk out than I did when I walked in! Pilates is a long-term solution, it is a lifestyle choice. Commit to it and you will see and feel results in your strength, stability and flexibility. I have also found Pilates to be a good challenge. Catherine certainly puts me through my paces! I have tried everything in the past 4 years to overcome a fractured collar bone and I spent a fortune on Osteopaths and Physiotherapy. Pilates really does work and I felt the results after just a few sessions. I'm now lifting weights again and looking to start kickboxing very soon. Fred Marchant |

I have been attending Catherine's pregnancy Pilates classes since I became 12 weeks pregnant. I had been going regularly to Pilates classes at my local gym for the past 4 years but after finding out I was pregnant I did not want to take any risks. I have found Catherine's classes to be invaluable for 3 main reasons: 1. It is a wonderful feeling to know that you are in safe hands, and as Catherine is such a good teacher you know that you have not got to worry about anything that you are doing 2. The Pilates exercises that you are taught help you to feel relaxed, stretched and prepared for labour. The exercises really get you to focus on your posture and understand how you can help your body with the changes it is going through 3. It is fantastic to be around five other pregnant girls who are all going through the same things as you. As the group is small, you really do get Catherine's full attention. On a personal level, I do not know any other pregnant people so being around others who are and to be able to talk things through with them is a real benefit. We are even going to start up a regular meeting after all the babies have arrived For these reasons I have found the classes to be priceless. Cristina Le Voir |

I have been going to Catherine's Pilates classes for about a year and a half. I had never set foot inside a gym before or been to any kind of "keep fit" classes, but am thoroughly enjoying these classes. Catherine explains the moves, the breathing and what parts of the body are being worked. She also gives alternative moves if a certain exercise is too challenging. I would definitely recommend Pilates to anyone. Julie Myers |

I thought that I should take a moment to tell you how important your Pilates session has become to me. As you know, I suffered from lower back pain which is probably a result of long office hours and lifting things I should not have done! Your Pilates class has been instrumental in reducing the pain and I feel much happier and more energetic as a result. Pilates is a fantastic technique for rediscovering movement that I had almost forgotten how to do. It is also very good for relieving stress and helping to balance the work / life relationship. I am 52 years old and since leaving school have never taken part in any sporting activities. I damaged by back about 20 years ago and cease then have occasional problems. Since joining Pilates 16 months ago my back feels so much stronger and I am a lot more flexible. I enjoy the class so much that I try to rearrange other commitments so as not to miss out on a single lesson. Catherine works the class hard, but it is all done in a relaxing atmosphere and we can still catch up with each others' news! I can never believe that an hour can go so quickly and I always look forward to the next session. Yvonne Harding |

After three operations for prolapsed disks, I felt the one good thing to come out of my ill health was an introduction to pilates. After physio I was advised to have sessions with Catherine and soon became addicted to pilates. It gave me hope of regaining flexibility and mobility by a method that was both stimulating and relaxing. Catherine is a born teacher / instructor. Kind, but firm, always concerned with my progress. I found her gentle watchfulness and professional approach a great comfort on my road to recovery. I wholeheartedly recommend pilates not only for back problems but for general well being and fitness. My husband has taken up pilates too, and enjoys the variation it offers from gym work. It is certainly the way forward for prevention of pain and for feeling good in mind, body and spirit. I just wanted to say thank you so much for providing antenatal pilates - I have really enjoyed attending classes with you since the summer. Now that I have had my baby (Isobel, born on 3rd December) I feel at a loss on Thursday evenings! You are truly a wonderful teacher and I recommend you to everyone. And since my 'bump' had virtually disappeared by day 10, everyone is convinced it was the pilates! Any chance that you could do a postnatal class? I'd join in a flash... Trudy Taylor |

I began pilates sessions with Catherine because I had been suffering both muscular and internal pain, as a result of a stomach injury. I had never done pilates before, but had heard that it may be of some help. Although I normally had an active / sporty lifestyle, I was apprehensive at doing any form of exercise because of my concerns at possibly causing further damage. However, any concerns I had vanished during my first session. Catherine instils confidence and is very professional, especially with making detailed notes of reactions / effects of each exercise, to allow me to go through the routines at a steady pace which is safe but also progressive. I always find the sessions enjoyable and interesting, each time learning new exercises and how the muscles and body work. The exercises seem to have an immediate effect in both targeting the problem areas and also in making you feel good. After only 10 sessions the pain, which had been with me for the past six months and prevented me from working, has virtually gone. Consequently I have returned to work and feel a lot better. I now feel well enough to get back to doing activities such as swimming and playing badminton with my daughter. As a bonus, the exercises have also helped me with a back and shoulder problem I've had for a number of years. These results have certainly made me a pilates convert. I always look forward to my sessions and would recommend pilates to everyone, not only to remedy an injury. I would like to thank Catherine for her invaluable help which has caused me not only to feel well again, but has given me the confidence for further progression.
